First class passenger Ida Straus, wife of Isidor Straus, owner of the American department store Macy's, refused to get on a life boat without her husband. The ship sank, and the two were together until the very end.
James Piermont Morgan was the owner of the Titanic. He was unable to board the titanic due to a delay with buisness.
Titanic "set sail" from Southampton in 1912 on April 10th. She collided with the iceberg on the evening of April 14th and she sunk at 2:20 am on April 15th.
A huge cruise ship was taking thousands of people on a long boat ride. On one of the day they crashed into a HUGE iceburg. All the woman and children were on boats while men were left abord. Story says that one half sunk first, then the other sunk deeper. IS THAT GOOD ENOUGH FOR YEAH?!?!?!?!?
No, Captain Smith's body was never recovered. Some accounts say that he went down with the ship, others that a man with a voice sounding remarkably like Smith's was heard in the water after the ship went down, calling out to ask if there was any room on one of the lifeboats. When told that there wasn't, the voice replied that it was alright, not to worry and wishing all the survivors Good Luck and God Bless. One of those abord the boat pointed out that the voice sounded like the Captain's, whereupon a search was made to track down the mysterious stranger, but to no avail. It may not have been Smith at all, but even if it was, he would quickly have succumbed to hypothermia in the sub-zero temperatures his body would not have remained afloat for long. Wearing his heavy woollen uniform, Winter greatcoat and heavy sea boots, these would quickly have become waterlogged and pulled his body down into the deep.
The USA won the race to the moon on July 20, 1969 when Apollo 11 landed on the moon. The Russians began the race when Sputnik was launched on October 4, 1957. The Apollo 11 had abord 2 men who were Neil Armstrong and some other guy but neil was the first to land and step on the moon.

yes
If by 'important' you mean rich and famous there were many. The wealthiest couple on board the ship was by far John Jacob Astor and his second wife Madeline who were returning from an extended honeymoon. Madeline was 5months pregnant and survived the disaster but her husband perished. If however by 'important' you mean (as I would) each individual life on board, then there were in excess of 2200 staff and passengers aboard (including the unborn).
