A flight from London to Cape Town will fly over Sussex, England then over the South Coast before crossing the English Channel, then the flight will fly over western France, the Pyrenees (passing close to Andorra), then over eastern Spain then over the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean, then the plane will fly over Gibraltar before reaching the African continent. Once the plane reaches the African continent, it will fly over much of the Sahara Desert (passing over the Hoggar mountains in southern Algeria), then over Niger, the Sahel region and then over Nigeria. The flight will then fly towards Sao Tome and Principe crossing the Equator , then over Angola, Namibia before coming into South Africa and descending into Cape Town.
Depending on the route you take, it could be anywhere from 20 hours to 30+ hours.
