One theory claims that when humans separated from the other apes through evolution, humans had white-pinkish skin with dark hair (similar to chimps) but as we lost the hair human skin tone darkened to cope with the heat in Africa. That said, 'white' man today came from a group who left Africa as 'black' people and adapted to the colder climate.

The truth of the matter is that there is no way to know. Evolution, while supported by a substantial amount of established science, is still a theory. One theory. At best, only an educated guess can be made, and that guess is only as good as the education.
