French Equatorial Africa ended in 1958.
Because the French did not colonize South Africa.
Yes, it was against French Vichy troops in Algeria. The landings in Algeria were made on November 9, 1942. The Moroccan landings were the next day. French resistance was light on both instances.

Colonization by white people. Such as french, belgians, germans, dutch, portugese and brits.
Pretty much any country that France colonized fought against the French Colonization at some point, with the exception of Canada because Britain had expelled France from Canada before. The Algerian War and the First Indochinese War in Algeria and Vietnam respectively were quite famous revolutions against French colonizers.
Africa has the most French speakers of any continent, due to its history of colonization by France and its continued influence on the region. French is widely spoken in countries such as Algeria, Morocco, and Senegal.
French is spoken as the primary language in some European countries (France, Belgium, and parts of Switzerland). It is also spoken in about half of Africa (because of previous French colonization of these parts of Africa). It is a second language there, but serves to help groups with different indigenous languages speak to each other. It is also the primary language in the Quebec province of Canada, and a variant of it is spoken in Louisiana (both of these also as a result of French colonization). There are also numerous small islands in the Caribbean where French is spoken.

The colonization of Mali effectively ended in 1960 when the country gained independence from French colonial rule on September 22. Prior to this, Mali was part of French West Africa, and the struggle for independence was influenced by broader decolonization movements across Africa. Following independence, Mali became a republic, marking the end of colonial governance.
French is primarily spoken in Europe (France, Belgium, Switzerland), Africa (North Africa, West Africa, Central Africa), and North America (Canada, specifically in Quebec). It is also spoken in some parts of the Caribbean and South America due to historical colonization.
The french had colonies in Africa and that is how the language came to Africa. Why it's still there? Because the inhabitants were used to french when they left and so they continued speaking it.

French cooperated with the Indians in their colonization, Spanish knew that they needed to include the Indians in their colonization, and the English basically excluded them in general.
English and French are common languages in most African nations because of British and French colonization. Hundreds of languages were and still are spoken in African countries and European colonizers decided to unify people through a common language which was their's. British colonies, concentrated in Southern Africa such as South Africa, Kenya, and Uganda have English as their main official languages while former French colonies, usually concentrated in the Northwest and Central Africa, such as Algeria, Congo, and Rwanda have French as an official language.
