Dax itself is a symbiont that has lived in the stomach of many Trills (in order, Lela, Tobin, Emony, Audrid, Torias, Joran Belar, Curzon, Jadzia, and Ezri Tigan). In DS9, Lela was played by Nana Visitor (Kira Nerys), Tobin was played by Colm Meaney (Miles O'Brien), Emony was played by Chase Masterson (Leeta), Audrid was played by Armin Shimmerman (Quark, which is so funny because Audrid was female), Torias was played by Siddig el Fadil, or Alexander Siddig (Julian Bashir), Joran was played by Jeff Magnus McBride, Leigh J. McCloskey, and Avery Brooks (Ben Sisko), Curzon was played by Frank Owen Smith and Rene Auberjonois (Odo), Jadzia was played by Terry Ferrall, and Ezri was played by Nicole de Bauer.
