Eugene Wellington was born in Bukavu, Zaire. At the age of four, his family moved to Freetown, Sierra Leone where Eugene attended school and completed high school. After graduating from high school, he was awarded a scholarship to study in Poland where he earned a maters degree in agricultural marketing. In 1987 he moved to Washington D.C to join his family and started working for the May Department Corp. He has five children.

In Louisiana, he experienced a career shift that landed him in ministry. Eugene is currently an ordained minister with the United Pentecostal Church. He has served as director of Foreign Missions in Section 12 of the Louisiana District. He is the Founder and Senior Pastor of The El-Bethel Apostolic Ministry, When Apostolics Meet crusades (W.A.M. fosters unity amongst local churches), The Miramon Center (a transitional housing program for men), and retired Executive Director of Community Christian Concern (an agency that provides food, shelter, clothing, prescription, transportation and counseling for the community's less fortunate). So far this agency has assisted over 90,000 people.

Eugene's involvement in his community has earned him several awards among which are the highly coveted Citizen of the Year awards from the St. Tammany Alliance for Good Government and the Omega, Psi, Phi Fraternity. He is a graduate of The Leadership Slidell Class of 2000, passed President of the Slidell Ministerial Alliance, long time Honorary Member of the Slidell Northshore Rotary Club (six years in a row), and a Court Appointed Special Advocate (C.A.S.A.). He serves currently as Chaplain to both The Slidell Police Department and the legislators and congressmen at the State Capitol. He also serves on the Board of Directors of The Ocshner Northshore Regional Medical Center. He has served and continues to serve on several boards including Rainbow Child Care, Head Start, St. Tammany Parish's Community Action, Northshore Regional Medical Center and the Slidell Police Department.

Eugene recently returned to his homeland in 2004 after 23 years and is already making a difference. Three churches have been planted so far, and schools and government are being assisted. Wells have been dug providing clean drinking water for hundreds of people. To date, a brand new church and elementary school have been erected that serve the town of Waterloo. Plans are currently in the making for the establishment of a library and an orphanage that will house children that were victims of the nine year civil war. Eugene who is married to Cecilia says that the support that he gets from God, his children and his community is the fuel that propels him to keep on serving humanity. He enjoys music, reading Time magazine while drinking cokes and eating Snickers.
