igneel i s a fire dragon the same dragon that thought natsu dragon slayer magic.
The fire dragon Igneel raised Natsu.
Throughout the manga, Igneel was occasionally shown as hiding somewhere, it was not revealed where or for what reason. Despite the disappeatance, we know there was one dragon left, first described as the 'Black Dragon', it was responsible for severely wounding Clive Gildarts. This dragon's name was later revealed as Acnologia, formerly a human Dragon-Slayer. In the latest arc, against Tartarus, Igneel reappeared. He had been hidden inside Natsu all along. It is possible the same applies to Metallicana and Grandine, we don't know yet. Igneel is currently battling Acnologia, we're still not sure why he was hidden.
In the "Fairy Tail" series, Natsu Dragneel does eventually meet Igneel, his foster father and the dragon he has been searching for. This reunion occurs during the climax of the story, bringing significant emotional depth to Natsu's character arc. Their meeting provides closure to Natsu's long-standing quest and reinforces themes of family and legacy within the series.
Natsu Dragneel's past is primarily explored in the "Fairy Tail" anime through episodes 1 and 2, where his relationship with Igneel, the Dragon King, and his childhood are introduced. Additionally, episodes 25 and 26 delve deeper into his backstory, revealing more about his upbringing and the significance of his bond with Igneel. The "Fairy Tail: Phoenix Priestess" movie also provides further insights into his character and experiences.
Layla died after opening the Eclipse Gate in X777 - already ill, she was forced to use her own power to substitute for the missing Aquarius key, an act from which she never recovered. She did this as part of a plan arranged by Igneel and Zeref, 400 years previously, to defeat Acnologia, the Black Dragon of the Apocalypse. Her ancestor, Anna Heartphilia was the one who opened the gate in her time, so that five children, all Dragon Slayers, could pass through, with the essences of their dragon 'parents' inside them. They were sent forward like that due to a lack of magic particles, 'Ethernano' in the air. Mages store this inside themselves to use for their magic, and absorb it from the air to restore their reserves. Dragon Slayers need a lot of it, so they were sent forward to an era calculated to have much greater amounts available to them. Then lastly, it only appeared to the Dragon Slayers that 'X777' was the day the dragons disappeared. They lived with their foster parents in X377, the dragons however were already dead, housing the remains of their souls inside their children. Then when they were sent through the gate, the dragons fully retreated inside them to protect them from becoming like Acnologia and turning into dragons themselves.

The name of the dragon that taught Natsu, Dragon Slayer magic is Igneel. Hello this is a little fact I cutemute147 want to tell you. There is a higher level of magic other then Dragon Slayer magic in ancient magic. Its called God Slayer magic, currently the only person using God Slayer magic is one of the 'Seven Kin Of Purgatory' and, that person is Zancrow. He can easily eat Natsu's flames and defeat him, like although is the easy to defeat. The battle against Zancrow and Natsu on Tenrou Island is not yet complete, therefore we do not yet know who is the strongest. Also, all of the Seven Kin Of Pugatory have been adopted by master Hades of Grimore Heart and, have all been taught lost magic.
END stands for Etherious Natsu Dragneel, Natsu is Zeref's younger brother, who died young. Zeref seems to have used his brother's body to create an ultimate demon called END. Natsu was then given to the dragon Igneel to raise, and then sent 400 years into the future through the original Eclipse Gate. The demon part of Natsu is sealed within the book of END, he is tied to the book somewhat, and to Zeref. Damaging the book injures Natsu, and Zeref said that if he dies, Natsu will die too. In the end, Natsu denied both the dragon and the demon sides of him, and Lucy rewrote the book to prevent his death when Zeref died.

His age is unknown.SPOILERSIn the episode where Laxus pits Fairy Tail against each other, Fried put runes around the building that don't allow people over 80 to leave (so master Makarov couldn't help them). For some reason, Natsu and Gajeel couldn't leave. This could possibly be due to the dragon souls of Igneel and Metallicana inside the pair.A much later issue has revealed that Natsu Dragneel is the younger brother of Zeref Dragneel, meaning he is roughly 400 years old. However there are still unanswered questions there, whether Fairy Tail's Natsu is that same person, and how he is related to E.N.D, which we know stands for Etherious Natsu Dragneel, though that individual is supposedly sealed inside a book for now.
