Not much of plot really.

The count and his court flee to his castle retreat to avoid the Red Death.

The have a masked ball.

A 'person' shows-up as the personification of the Red Death.

The count gets offended and chases the 'person' the length of his hall only to find the 'person' a specter.

Everyone dies of the Red Death.

The entire worth of this piece is in its phantasmagoria: symbolism, mood, setting, and theme . There is no great plot or character development. Personally I don't think it a great piece of literature.
