Canada's first female judge was Judge Emily Murphy...if i was paying attention carefully in class, I'll like to add that she was appointed by the British Government in 1916. She is also one of the "Famous Five", the women who petitioned the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in Britain after losing their case in Canada, that women are "Persons" and should be appointed to Senate.
