Tessie Hutchinson is the one who gets sacrificed. This name is used differently from the others in the story. "Hutchinson" is a historical name of one of America's Christian leaders; Anne Hutchinson. In 1636 Anne Hutchinson was charged with heresy and banished from Massachusetts Colony. Several years later she moved to New York where Indians massacred her. By borrowing the surname Shirley Jackson compares her character's fate with the fate of the historical Anne Hutchinson. They both fought religious rules with little hope that someone would speak in their defense. In stead they were both "tried," and ended up being slaughtered. Like the other names in the story, the first name holds a surprise. The name Tessie foretells her death. She is the one that gets Reapedat the harvest ceremony.
No - it was a conflict fought by British troops against the Argentinian invaders. No other country was involved.

No, she was not the founder of Rhode Island, but lived in Rhode Island from 1638, after she was banished from Massachusetts, until her husband died. Then she moved into the wilderness of Long Island, where she hoped to work among the Native Americans. In 1643, the Indians of southern New England and New York rose up in an effort to stop further European settlement on their lands. Anne Hutchinson was killed. A victim of the times and the society in which she lived. Roger Williams is the only one considered the founder of Rhode Island. For while Anne Hutchinson was still in Massachusetts, Roger Williams established the first permanent settlement in Providence, Rhode Island, in 1636. Anne Hutchinson would not go to Rhode Island until two years later, after the colony had been officially founded by Roger Williams.
A:1 Samuel 17:4 calls Goliath a champion of the Philistines, suggesting that he was a great warrior who had indeed fought before. On the other hand, serious historians do not regard the story of David and Goliath as based on fact. Even Chronicles, in recounting the story of David, entirely omits the story of David and Goliath, suggesting that the Chronicler did not really believe the story. Historically, the giant Goliath had never fought before and did not fight David.

People usually want revenge or something. Like the crusades for example were actually caused when Turks started raiding Byzantian lands. Even though the Catholic Church and the Orthedox church were different, they had a some-what close relationship. The pope enraged called for a crusade in which they took several cities in the "Holy Lands." The next three crusades were fought over that land and more. Many historians believe that the leaders/rulers of these and more wars fought because of religion, but they do believe that religion was one reason people joined the army and didn't get upset with their rulers for being in nearly pointless wars.
About 50 nations fought in WW2 but basically the whole world was involved.
