The Socs are the rich kids that live on the other side and they hate each other. The greasers are the poor kids with long greasy hair. When one of the greasers dies they get in a fight and it gets rough. At the end of the movie a greaser named Dally dies as well and Ponyboy has to cope with the loss. This is one of my favorite movies of all time.

When you're a kid everything's new, dawn. It's just when you get used to everything that it's day. Like the way you dig sunsets, Pony. That's gold. Keep that way, it's a good way to be. I want you to tell Dally to look at one. He'll probably think you're crazy, but ask for me. I don't think he's ever seen a sunset. And don't be so bugged over being a greaser.
