Because they eat a lot of spicy food, eg curry. Strong spices have extreme flavors, smells, and reactions. You are what you eat and it just so happens that it does not smell good the second time around. If anyone were to have the same diet as the Indians, you too will eventually emit the same smell.
Also, many of them do not wear deodorant, anti-persperant, or cologne/perfume which does not help. Some of them perspire more than other cultures which releases the smell. The stink often has nothing to do with being dirty.
