Check all fuses- many unrelated problems
Check wiring to fuse box
Check for loose ground Stop lights and shift interlock should be common circuit
Dash lights parking/tailights should be common circuit
I do not have an answer, but I do have the same problem as you do. I have a 2001 L200, and from the moment you start the engine, every few seconds, the security light will flash and the temperature and gas gauge needles will act as if you turned off the car, and then pop back up where they should be. When the headlights are on, the dash lights will flash along with the security light and the gauges. The headlights and radio are not affected, though. In addition to that, the odometer has also stopped working. It has read the same milage since I noticed some time ago. I will let you know if I find out anything.
Is the light bulb inside burnt out. If so, that would do it.
Check grounding wire's then use a test light
most times it's becauce your tail lights are not working. most auto makers do that to alert you that your tail lights are not woking.
Check to see if the parking/tailights are working - should be the same circuit - check fuses Could be a defective dimmer rheostat Could be a bad light switch
The dash light brightness control may be turned off, check the switch.
Answer location of check gauges lightthe check gauges light is on your instrument panel when it comes on it lights up saying check gauges
relay
There are a couple of reasons why a 2005 Saturn Ion's reverse lights will not work. The fuses may be blown or the light bulbs need to be replaced. Fuses and bulbs can be purchased at any auto parts store.
Check the ground wire to the tail lights.
The lights that light up your gauges. . . I don't think those are the lights being asked about. More likely you are inquiring about the service and warning lights.
All of these parts run on electricity, and for all of them to fail would be bad. Bad or burnt wiring could cause them not to work, or a alternator going bad could cause them not to work as well.
have you checked the fuse? is the dimmer switch turned down? have they just quit working? Headlights/taillights work? Interior light? Need more info!! What have you checked so far?
Well is your battery putting out enough voltage to power the gauges? On my 66 corvette I have to really step on the gas and then my gauge lights come on.
If you dash lights are not working check that your parking/brake lights are working also check fuses for cig lighter and interior lights that may help get the dash light working again.
If a 1987 Chevy Suburban has lights and horn, but no ignition, gauges, radio, or interior lights it could be a ground wire problem. It is possible that there is a short somewhere. Also check the dome light for a possible water leak in the headliner.
I am currently having this same issue with my 03 Vue, and I got a diagnostic done (twice). The issue seems to be the BMC. Initially, I had the same issue as you, but over about the next year, my gauges started to bounce and the powersteering goes in and out. My SERVICE light also lit up and my A/C stopped working. Hope this helps.
