Just of the coast of South America is something called a subduction zone. Here Oceanic crust from three different tectonic plates slide under the South American plate and into the mantle. These plates are the Cocos plate in the north, the Nazca plate in the middle, and the Anatarctic plate in the south. As they go into the mantle they take seawater with them. This lowers the melting point of the hot rocks of the mantle. The resulting molten rock, called magma, rises through the crust and erupts at the surface from volcanoes.
The Nazca plate, under the Pacific, is being subducted under the South American plate. As the oceanic plate is forced down it melts and magma can well up.
Off the west coast of South America is a subduction zone, where several oceanic plates are sliding under the continental South American Plate. As these plates move into the mantle, they bring seawater and other materials with them that alter the chemistry of the hot mantle rocks, allowing them to partially melt. This molten rock, called magma, rises through the crust, erupting to form volcanoes.
the largest volcano is acongua second largest...........
how many people have died from volcanic eruptions?Yes there are some in Colombia and southern South America.
Earthquakes, volcanoes, and tsunamis.
All of the above.
There are several hundred volcanoes that are in South America. Of those volcanoes, there are between 200 and 300 that are active.
there are about 1,000,000 people killed by erupting volcanoes or more!!! hi what your name!!!!$$$5%%%%####
erupting
ashgasessmokemagma
If it erupting then yes.
I no understand?:/
death
There are exactly 12 active volcanoes on the continent of North America..
There are exactly 12 active volcanoes on the continent of North America..
Yes they are. A volcano that is not erupting is called a dormant (meaning sleeping) volcano, while one that is erupting is called an active volcano.
there the same think but the only diffrence is that the volcano is erupting
Active volcanoes are erupting or has erupted recently. Dormant volcanoes haven't been erupting recently, but may erupt in the future. They could be considered "sleeping". Extinct volcanoes will never erupt again.
