Why a multivibrator is called a multivibrator?

oscillators could generate various types of waveforms, i.e., sinusoidal, triangular, etc. Oscillators generating non-analog waveform(sinusoidal, triangular are examples of analog waveforms) ,i.e., square or rectangular waveforms are called multivibrators. Classically, "multivibrator" term was proposed by the Dutch physicist van der Pol, refers to the multiplicity of harmonics in the spectrum of generated oscillations (in this sense a generator of sinusoidal oscillations could be called a monovibrator).

Why use capacitors with crystal oscillator?

There are two kinds of crystal oscillators. One operates at what is called the "series resonance" of the crystal. This resonance is the frequency at which the (AC) impedance between the pins of the crystal is almost zero. The frequency is independent of how much capacitance happens to be in parallel with the crystal - its inside the oscillator and part of the circuit board, etc. But, even frequency that the oscillator runs at.The other kind of oscillator oscillates at "parallel resonance"of the crystal. At this frequency, the impedance from pin to pin of the crystal is almost infinite. This frequency depends on how much capacitance is connected in parallel with the crystal. This parallel capacitance is called "load capacitance". Generic signal-inverter oscillator is this kind of oscillator. The common oscillator connection is for the crystal to be connected from the inverter output to the input. And, there is a capacitor at each end of the crystal to ground. The NET load capacitance is SERIES equivalent value of those two capacitors.PLUS stray capacitance from the circuit board and the guts of the oscillator. Suppose that the crystal is rated for 22pF load capacitance. The stray capacitance is about 7pF. So, that leave 15pF to be made up from discrete external capacitors. If the external capacitors are equal, then their equivalent is half of their individual value. Thus, in this case, we would want a pair of 30pF capacitors.

What is blocking oscillator?

The oscillator which is blocked by using transformer is called a blocking oscillator. Generally, the primary is given to the base and secondary is given to the collector of the transistor used in the oscillator circuit.

Why is the R-C oscillator also called a phase shift oscillator?

The R-C oscillator is also called a phase shift oscillator because the R-C filter creates a phase shift from input to output. The feedback portion of the oscillator (an amplifier) then serves to pump energy back into the filter.

What is a gradual loss of amplitude of an oscillator called?

The gradual loss of amplitude of an oscillator is called damping. Science book told me. =D

What is meant by free running frequency in phase locked loop?

The VCO is a special type of oscillator that has a frequency controlled by an applied voltage. The frequency of the VCO without any control signal applied is called the free running frequency.

What did Nikola Tesla invent that made the building shake?

It was called the Oscillator

What is the oscillator?

The purpose of an oscillator is to produce repetitive sound that will compliment the music being played. They are relatively easy to set up and use. Oscillators will filter the sounds providing a wide range of music.

What is a wobbulator?

A frequency-modulated oscillator is usually called a sweep generator today, but in 1935, it was called a wobbulator. The first wobbulators used a motor-driven variable capacitor to sweep (or wobble) through the desired frequency range. Later circuits used a Phantastron oscillator that worked well, but still had no good way to add markers.

How can you make a static inverter keeping the frequency at 400Hz accurate?

You can make your static inverter to maintain 400Hz by means of compare the generated frequency of your inverter with the reference buildin frequency generator which is called local oscillator or multivibrator which is fixed at 400 Hz. If your inverter generate frequency grater or less than 400Hz then the comparison between the reference frequency and the generate frequency will produce the error signal to reduce or increase the generated frequence and send it out. This is the principle operation of the Electrical Power Generation System. Post this answer by : tassana.e@thaiairways.com
