Bella chose Edward over Jacob because she was IN LOVE with Edward as a soulmate, as opposed to LOVING Jacob as her best friend. She loved Jacob as a brother or family, they were never really destined to be together. When she was crying over Jacob, it was because she was worried that she hurt him, and she didn't want to lose the friendship that they had.

It's different in the film to the book. In the film Edward gets really angry when Jacob kisses Bella without her wanting him to, I wouldn't say it was a fight but he does push him a lot. Edward and Jacob also have an argument when Jacob has to get in Bella's sleeping bag to keep her warm and when Jacob tells Bella Victoria's back when Edward didn't want her to know.
