Why did Simon Cowell start the business?

In the 1980's Simon left his job when he was a young adult, to form his own recording label, E&S Music; with his former boss Ellis Rich.

E&S Music had made several hit records, attaining five singles on the United Kingdom top 40. A couple years after the foundation of E&S Music, Simon decided to move onto bigger and better things. He went to work for Iain Burton at Fanfare records, and over the next eight years, he finally found success in the music industry.

Simon is a talent agent, entrepreneur, and television producer. He has also been a judge on Pop Idol, American Idol, the X Factor, and Britain's Got Talent. He also created SycoTV, on which these shows are produced.
