Why did british Columbia became a part of Canada before Alberta and Saskatchewan?

Alberta and Saskatchewan, before being made into provinces, were a part of the Northwest Territories. Because there were quite a number of people living in the Northwest Territories (more than the federal and territorial, or more properly, the provincial government of NWT could handle), the Canadian government decided to split up this large southern portion of the territories into two provinces: Alberta, and Saskatchewan.
So Alberta didn't "join" the confederation, rather it was created. Alberta was never a country, nor did it exist before September 1, 1905.

∙ 15y agoAlberta was created as a province by the Government of Canada on September 1, 1905, out of part of the Northwest Territories. The Province of Saskatchewan was created in the same way on the same date. These two provinces were created because their populations indicated that they possessed the political ability of self-governance, as opposed to governance by Ottawa.

The provinces of Saskatchewn and Alberta were actually brought into association with Canada when they were the repspective terriroies of the Northwest Terriroey and Rupert's land...they both had elected local governments and administrative/governing institutions in the 1880s which were recognized by Ottawa...The local territorial councils and Premiers wnated one singe province called "buffalo" , but the election of the federal Liberals under Laurier, saw the process of Alberta and Sask. entering confederation legally a farce as they were forced to accept the borders and appointed governments Laurier installed....Premier Haultain fought the illegal process for 3 years, but lost when Laurier acted unilaterally/illegally...Premier Haultain was the elected regional Premier and he never signed onto Confederation...the idea that Alberta was a legally confederated province is a federal fraud...after the statutes of westminster the province of Alberta was made sovereign and from that point never resigned into confederal association with Ottawa
