Edward was suffering from a very serious disease and Carlyle was his assigned doctor. Edward's mother found out what Carlyle really was and begged him to change Edward so that Edward would survive. Also keep in mind that Edwards mother was very sick too.

∙ 14y agoHe turned Edward into a vampire when he was seventeen because his mother was dieing and she requested Carlisle save him. also Esme his sole mate she was half dead when he did because she jumped off a cliff because her baby died, Alice who doesn't remember her human life, Emmet Rosalie and Jasper

∙ 13y agoYes...well atleast he doesn't mind. In New Moon Edward was miserable when he left Bella. Carlisle doesn't want Bella to stay human, die, and Edward to be miserable.
