There are several answers to this question:

1. The crew were panicked. They wanted to get people off as fast as possible.

2. Even though the ship was sinking, people still felt as though they should follow the class system. Boats were arranged by class and there had to be a certain amount of room between classes. The first class people also had to have a lot of room.

3. They were trying to make things look like just a precaution. They did not wish to stuff the boats and have people on the ship panic.

4. An excuse that a crew member gave was that they did not know how much weight the boats would hold and they did not want them to capsize. I call this an excuse because the boats were tested and could hold 70 men no problem.

I hope that this helps :)

Many people refused to get on them because they believed that the ship was actually not sinking. Also, since a large number of passengers were immigrants who spoke different languages, many of them were not able to understand the commands of evacuating the ship. Hope this helps :)

The first lifeboats were not filled for several reasons: Nobody was sure Titanic was going to sink, and it seemed safer to stay on the vessel than to take seats on small boats.

How many life boats were supposed to be on the Titanic?

Titanic could hold 46,000 tons of weight. Lifeboats don't way more then a few hundred pounds. How many people would the life boat hold on the Titanic?

Sadly, the Titanic didn't have enough lifeboats, which is part of why so many people died. According to a thorough Wikipedia article, and verified with other historical sources, "Titanic carried a total of 20 lifeboats: 14 standard wooden Harland and Wolff lifeboats with a capacity of 65 people each and four Englehardt "collapsible" lifeboats ... with a capacity of 47 people each." I enclose a link to tell you more.

Could more people have been saved on titanic boats?

If there had been more lifeboats aboard the Titanic, then yes more people could have been saved. There was time and capacity to save more lives even with the original amount of lifeboats, but because of the lack obvious signs of damage and danger, many were reluctant to leave the boat to get on the much smaller lifeboats. The lifeboats were designed to hold 40 people, but many were launched only partly full.

How many people would have been saved if all lifeboats were on the TItanic?

Lol Depends how many more lifeboats were on the ship. The reason there werent enough lifeboats onboard was because mr Ismay (The builder of the ship) didnt want to put any more lifeboats on because it made the ship look ugly.
