Why do people want to make disgusting movies like the human centipede?

People have become so desensitized by today's media that nothing gets to them, bothers them, scares them, or shocks them anymore.
Movies like The Human Centipede are made to shock the senses and make one wonder 'could that really happen?'; and it just may.. everything in The Human Centipede is medically accurate.
Some people need movies just like this as a way to get a bit of a shock while watching it, or simply just to disturb themselves.
