Because Zero stole the shoes and wonder if Stanley ran across them. The reason why is because zero stole the shoes and Stanley is not supposed to be there
Zero/Hector did, they landed on Stanley, and then the police thought Stanley stole the shoes, althought Zero did.
I'm not completely sure but this is what i think, PS: I'm reading the book and have watched the movie! Stanley:- Was accused of stealing a pair of trainers, it wasn't stanleys fault. The shoes had fell from an over head bridge and landed on him Zero:- Was the person who threw the shoes over the bridge and coinsidently landed on Stanley. The Police/court then found out that it was Zero's fault not Stanley's Twitch:- Stealing cars (Has an obbsession with this) I think some of them was manslaughter and shoplifting.
His warning is that he isn't a very good teacher.

Uhm never... Thats only in the movie :)
because both Stanley and Zero were caught with the shoes
Zero/Hector did, they landed on Stanley, and then the police thought Stanley stole the shoes, althought Zero did.
that he stold the shoes and threw then off the bridge where Stanley caught them
If Zero hadn't found the shoes, they wouldn't of met.
Zero originally stole Clyde Livingstone's shoes, for which Stanley was blamed.

He was framed for stealing shoes that he actually didnt steal. *spoiler alert* Zero did

They are alike in many, many ways! First of all, Stanley is put under a curse from his great-great grandfather, Elya Yelnats whodidn'tcarry Madam Zeroni up a mountain and give her water to drink from the stream. Madam Zeroni put a curse on him and all hisdescendants. In the present day, Stanley carried Zero up a mountain and made him drink from the same stream Elya wassupposed to make Madam Zeroni drink from. The curse broke because Zero was a descendant of Madam Zeroni. Zero is the only reason why Stanley is in Camp Green Lake. Zero was the one who stole Clyde Livingston's shoes. Zero needed shoes to wear, so he stole the shoes, but when the security guards came, Zero threw the shoes in the air and Stanley caught them thinking "it came from the sky". Then he went to Camp Green Lake. There are a lot of more ways and these are only some. Hope this helped!
