Hammurabi's were printed on a marble pillar and copied for centuries by scribes. An eye for an eye sense of retribution for crime, minimum wage, and the presumption of innocence with the burden of proof on the accuser. One thing that is different from US Law - presumably - is that there was provision for a difference of punishment based on the class of the defendant.

Here is a fair example: If one's roof falls and kills oneself, the builder must also be killed. It's kinda harsh, but it is fair (in my opinion) and it's the best I can think of. If this doesn't help, sorry.
