That she seems to have a natural skill at magical acts of power is the reason why Madame Morrible uses Elphaba Thropp. Madame Morrible has powers of her own. But she realizes her limitations. Her particular skill is the ability to see whom she needs to manipulate to get what she wants. She wants power over the animals and peoples of Oz. She sees Elphaba as a means to achieving that end.

Crage Hall in Shiz University is the college that Elphaba Thropp attends in the musical "Wicked."Specifically, Crage Hall is the all-girl portion of the university. It is located in the northern part of Oz, in the Gillikin city of Shiz. Its headmistress is Madame Morrible.
Because one of her teachers Madame Morrible joined with The Wizard and they framed her because she knew too much about what was happening with animals of Oz. Then they killed her sister to draw her out into the open from hiding.
Elphaba Thropp is not wicked in "Wicked."Instead, it is Elphaba's reputation that becomes wicked. The reason lies in the rumors spread against her by such powerful enemies as the Wizard and Madame Morrible. Some people believe the lies and rumors just because Elphaba is quite different with her green skin. Others fear the consequences if they try to defend her or put a stop to the character defamation.
