excellent question worthy of Socrates. I once knew a man who mis-pronounced it So- Crates ( argued he was a soap-box philosopher) so, abbreviation for some, and crates! well it is not a good thing. Tobacco use is frequently grafted into movies when it adds nothing to the plot ( in my opinion it was utterly superfluous in (Amelia) Her manager-husband- sort of a Phil Spector type, chugs on cigarettes as do other characters. liquor and drugs- well that is in the crime drama closet, but- Right now a big hubub about Occult films- during the winter I saw an add on a bus with a huge Vampire Bat silhouetted against a yellow full moon! eye catching and repellant- too much occult material on movies and also Broadway- and right now, two body-snatch cases from cemeteries, one a senior citizen,the other a child who died in preschool years- you can"t tell me this is accidental- get Occult horrors out of H-Wood!
