Why does the US speak English if they hate the English -- Why not speak French or Spanish?

∙ 8y agoFirst of all, Americans speak English since the United States was a former British colony. However, most Americans have positive views of the British and English. Most of the negative comments between Americans and Brits about the other's country is good-natured ribbing between brothers, not strong criticism between adversaries.
