Why is Canada important to you?

Because if you don't vote somebody else will misuse your vote and eventually your vote will cast by followers of one of the candidates. Especially in India the identity checks at the booths are a bogus. At least you will have the satisfaction of casting your to a candidate that you thought was best of the worst!

They are most important in the political process with is based on parties. Elected representatives are first and foremost party representatives in the parliament. They must vote along party lines and stepping out to represent voters can result in censure even expulsion from the party and with that many perks and access to taxpayers money.

This means a voter can vote for someone without knowing or needing to know what a candidates position is on various issues. A voter only needs to know what the parties position is and they can vote knowing the person elected will have to follow the parties orders, with the exception of the occasional "free" vote.

It is my homeland. Most Canadians have family connections outside of Canada, less than 20% describe themselves as Canadian with Canada as their only homeland or culture and I'm one of them. In fact my Mom almost went to jail for saying she was Canadian on a Canadian census. Being Canadian has always been import to me and my ancestors.

It is important to vote because not a lot of countries have a chance to have a say in how the county is being ran

It's a privilege of citizenship. If someone isn't a citizen, then they have no say who is elected.
