Cheap resources. The USA get many Canadian resources at a major discount compared to world prices. American companies often extract the resources and get the profits from that extraction, they then export the resources to the USA for more profit and in some cases even sell the finished product back into Canada.

Canada is the U.S. largest energy supplier and purchases Canadian oil for less than it could be sold on the world market.

And yet Canada is the most stable trading partner America has ever had. Brothers from a common mother.
