Switching High voltages requires more substantial apparatus.

High voltage electricity can arc further and therefore distances between contacts need to be larger. This has cost and size implications.

Youy dont want a massive throw switch in your tiny state of the art piece of equipment.

Also the contacts in high voltage equipment are bigger as the voltage will erode smaller contacts quickly. This also raises cost.

What is the difference between line voltage and low voltage?

Answer for USA, Canada and countries running a 60 Hertz supply service.Line voltage is a term that is used to describe the voltage that is used to operate a specific device. A service that comes into a building would be considered line voltage. For a Class 1 circuit the top voltage for low voltage installations is 30 volts at 1000 vA. For a Class 2 circuit the top voltage for low voltage installations is not under 30 volts and not over 60 volts at 100 vA. Voltages used above 750 volts are considered high voltage installations.

Can capacitor increase low voltage to high voltage?

yes a capacitor can improve voltage by improving power factor

Why Common Emitter Configuration is most commonly used in amplifier circuits?

Why do amplifiers have high voltage gain?

If you got a microphone that converts soft acoustic waves to audio voltage, the low output must be amplified. For that purpose it is good to have an amplifier with high voltage gain. The same is needed for the output of your CD player before it goes to the power amp. Scroll down to related links and look at "Amplification". Many amplifiers do not need high voltage gain. The final output stage of a good power amplifier usually has high current gain but very low voltage gain. Amplifiers are also used as mixers and filters where there is no voltage gain.

What is the use of IC 7407?

7407 is "Hex Buffers/Drivers With Open-Collector High-Voltage Outputs". Buffers are used to clean up a noisy signal, to change from one voltage to another, or to convert a high output impedance to a low output impedance.

Can high voltage wire be used for low voltage fixture?

yes, all conductors shall be insulated to the highest voltage utilised

What are or relay circuits used for?

A relay is used to switch a different voltage and/or current, to the control signal.Examples:1) Low voltage electronic signals operate a relay, which can then control mains voltages and high currents. This isolates potential harmful voltages from getting into the low voltage electronics.2) The control switch may be some distance from a high power unit. Instead of running large cables and using large clumsy switches to control it, small low voltage, low current cables, can be used instead. Using a relay close to the unit to keep the price down and danger away from the operator.3) The starter motor on a vehicle, uses massive amounts of current and have thick cables to supply it. These large cables are not routed through to the ignition switch. Instead, small cables are used at low current, to operate a solenoid right at the motor. This is a relay.

What are advantage of silicon control rectifier?

the big advantage is they are very low costthe big disadvantage is they can't be turned OFF

What are voltage dividers?

Voltage dividers are used in a linear circuit to separate the input voltage into a small portion known as the output voltage. It is commonly used to get a low voltage signal equal to the voltage being measured.

How you understand which side of a transformer is high voltage side and low voltage side?

at high voltage side, current is low. hence the size of conductors is reduced or small. At low voltage side, current is high. Hence the size of conductors is large.

Will a 2002 chrysler voyager still run if you take the battery cables off?

Maybe. The engine computer is the voltage regulator, with the battery disconnected it may not be able to control the alternator output voltage correctly. This could cause it to go low or high.Maybe. Why current transformers are used?

1) voltage level up-down2) voltage level down-up3) isolationAnswerBecause transmission would be impossible except at high voltages/low load currents due to enormous voltage drops that would otherwise occur, and these are achieved using Transformers..

How do you step down voltage in transformers?

step up or stepdown is done by the ratio of the number of turns in the primary / secondary coil, large number on high voltage side small number on low voltage side. the wire used on the low voltage side would be thicker than the high.
