The wattmeter contains two coils one is current coil and other is pressure coil.
the current coil is connected in series with the line and pressure coil is connected across the supply.
so, the disc links with the flux which is the resultant of these two.(resultant means consider the vector resultant), which include phase angle also.
the active power P=VI(cosine of angle between v & I).
there fore the wattmeter measures the active power.
CommentThere is no 'disc' in a wattmeter. Furthermore, the current coil doesn't measure the load current, it measures the in-phase component of the load current.
to put out the power fector you have to divided apparent power with true power.AnswerYou can determine the true power of any load using a wattmeter. To find the apparent power, you use a voltmeter to measure the supply voltage and an ammeter to measure the load current, and multiply the two readings together. If you then want to go on to find the power factor, then you divide the true power by the apparent power. If you want to find the reactive power you use the following equation:(reactive power)2 = (true power)2 x (apparent power)2
The ratio of active power (real power) and apparent power is called power factor ( pf ). Power Factor ( pf ) = Active Power / Apparent Power = .................. ( kvar )
this works with both.
A: Only if the current is very small and the scaling very large. Like trying to measure micro amps on amp meter
Electronic have two type of components Active components and Passive components. Active components are those which increase the power of a signal and must be supplied with the signal and a source of power. Passive components do not increase the power of a signal. Active components are Bipolar transistor, Operational amplifier, field effect transistors etc and Passive components are semiconductor, resistor, capacitor, inductor etc
Active volts amperes are measured by 2 wattmeter methods. A wattmeter will measure active power and not reactive power. Electrical engineering is a promising career for anyone who likes to generate power.
A watt meter will measure active power, not reactive power.
wattmeter
The wattmeter is an instrument to measure the electrical power.
Wattmeter is an intrument which is used to measure the power consumption of an Electric circuit or an appliance which is connected to the supply in terms of Watts.
A wattmeter is used to measure the power of a load.
A wattmeter is designed so that it measures the supply voltage and the in-phase component of the load current. The product of these two quantities is the true power of the load.
An ammeter and a wattmeter are the instruments needed.
You may be thinking of the 'two-wattmeter method' for measuring three-phase power? As a rule, it's always possible to use one less wattmeter than the number of conductors supplying a three-phase load to measure the power of that load. So, for a three-phase, three-wire, system, two wattmeters may be used to measure the total active power of the load -regardless of whether the load is balanced or unbalanced. The algebraic sum of the two wattmeter readings will give the total power.
yes.
A wattmeter (not 'watt-meter') will always measure the true power of a load, regardles of whether that load is purely resistive or not. This is because a wattmeter effectively measures the in-phase component of the load current.
LPF wattmeter is used for measuring power in highly inductive circuits & UPF wattmeter is used for measure power in resistance circuit in which the power factor ranges from 0.5 to unity. Answer is given by :Er. M KUMAR YADAV
