Harlem is not a country or a state, so, it does not have a capital. Harlem is a neighborhood in New York City. Actually, it is technically two neighborhoods: West Harlem and East Harlem. East Harlem, also called Spanish Harlem, is a predominantly Latino neighborhood, while West Harlem is predominantly -- and historically -- a black neighborhood (although in recent years it has seen a big increase in its white population). The heart of Harlem is 125th Street, which is a two-way street that runs east-west and west-east across Upper Manhattan.
The New York Shakespeare Festival made the outdoor Delacorte Theatre in Central Park famous by its presentations of free Shakespeare performances there. Indeed Shakespeare is often performed in outdoor venues, so there are probably a number of theatres (most less famous than the Delacorte) and companies (most less famous than the NYSF) who might fit this bill.
Bumpy Johnson was alive and in Harlem during the Harlem Renaissance years. BUT he did not contribute to the rebirth of African American Culture through the arts, music and literature. So, he was "around" it but not "in" it.
Langston Hughes loved Harlem because it was the the place he lived and loved. He knew that place so well.
