Roles- the Mounties were people who would keep the town in place, and in order.

They had many responsibilities:

· End the illegal whiskey trade

· Patrol the United States- Canada border.

· End smuggling.

· Gain the respect and confidence of the Aboriginal Peoples.

· Preserve Law and Order.

Why needed- Anything that went wrong or was wrong would be set in place by the Mounties. They were needed to help make sure the town or country was running properly, with no scams or cheats.
