Will satellite tv be effected by everything going digital on Feb. 17, 2009?

DTV transition will not affect satellite TV subscribers who receive their local TV stations through their satellite dishes. Satellite TV service is a digital service and all satellite subscribers must have a set-top box connected to their TVs to receive the satellite-delivered programming. you should check with your provider to find out if you receive a local TV station package through your satellite dish just to make sure. Your satellite TV system may be using digital technology as a more efficient way of delivering analog programming to you but if you have an analog television set, then you are probably not getting digital. Bottom line your satellite tv service might be fine but your tv will not be.

Choosing a Satellite Television Provider?

There are only two major satellite providers in the US offering television via satellite. One is DirecTV and the other is Dish Network. However, even though there are only two competitors the competition is lively. Both companies are doing their best to lock in customers for at least a year’s service by offering special deals and packages. There is more to consider than just the monthly bill. Satellite TV companies now offer local channels in their lineup. It used to be a big drawback that satellite TV didn’t have local channels. Satellite TV has high-definition channels and for the premium channels such as HBO and Showtime, there is a competitive advantage over some cable TV providers in that there are more premium channels available in the satellite TV packages. Satellite TV had On Demand services before cable with many Pay-Per-View channels in both Dish Network and DirecTV’s lineup. The downside is that a satellite receiver box needs to be connected at each television in the house in order to watch a different channel on each TV. Also, old TV cable may not be suitable to carry the satellite TV signals, which then requires a new cable being run to each television location. Another downside is that a small satellite signal receiving dish needs to be mounted outside, usually on the roof or wall of the home or business. Furthermore service contracts can vary. Where cable TV companies would send out a repairman to pretty much fix anything that caused their signal to stop getting to your TV, satellite providers may have the consumer do some basic troubleshooting himself before a repairman is sent out. Plus, there may be additional fees involved for service calls where a cable provider may not charge for the work. Satellite TV signals can be affected by vegetation growing up and blocking the dish such as trees getting taller or leafing out in the spring. Signals can be interrupted by heavy snow and rain. The amount of complaints of signal loss is lessened now due to better equipment and better installation practices. Satellite television providers used to argue that the cable company was just retransmitting signals received by satellite in order to prove that cable TV can go out in a storm too. However, cable TV providers utilize much higher grade signal receiving equipment than consumer grade satellite reception equipment so it is not a valid argument. There are those who absolutely swear by the television service their satellite TV company offers just as there are those who equally swear by the great service of their cable TV provider. Both major satellite TV providers and most cable companies provide a great television experience for their customers. So it comes down to a matter of whether or not one may want that little dish stuck to the roof or wall, and whether or not one is willing to do a bit of troubleshooting before a repairman will come out if something quits working. Be sure to read the fine print of any contract to see who will pay for what if something goes wrong.

Do you need to buy Software when you watch satellite TV on your PC?

There are two ways to watch satellite TV channels in your computer: Watching satellite TV in your PC needs software installed in your computer. There are lists of satellite TV for PC which is available in the internet. You just need to pay a one-time payment to be able for you to download the software. Before you buy a satellite TV for PC software, make sure that you have a high-speed Internet connection running to at least 1 mbps. Take note that downloading a large movie file in the Internet with a slow connection is not fun. Basically, you will not enjoy watching movies if your media player keeps on buffering. One more thing, it is true that they have more than a thousand of channels available but unfortunately, all the movies that you are going to have on these channels are not in English. The channels available in the software are not the live ones; they are pre-recorded from the channels around the world and are stored for you to watch them. They are movies with different languages and not just the English ones. If you have a satellite TV subscription you can just attach a tuner card in your computer to watch your favorite channel in your computer. Technically, your computer will act as your television. These tuner cards have their own software. To be able for you to watch them, just connect the cable from the receiver going to your tuner card and do a fine tune to get signals from your satellite dish. Most of the time, you don't have to fine tune your tuner card. The receiver will be one who will give you the satellite signal on your computer. What is one use of a satellite?

Satellite dishes are used to enhance signal reception from a satellite. They are highly directional which means they must be accurately pointed towards what ever signal is wanted. The larger the dish, the more fine tuned the signal will be. Antenna's measure reception in Db's much the same as you measure sound. You can witness the Db Gain of your dish if you pointed it towards a noisy road or vehicle then to walk in front of the dish the sounds would be directed and amplified. You could probably also take of the arms of the dish and use it as a sled or possibly a small raft of sorts.

Will everyone have to get new television sets in 2010?

No, a set top box that converts analog signal to digital will be the standard procedure required. If you're not getting tv through a roof top antenna or old rabbit ears your fine. If you are paying for your cable, satellite , or fiber optic network you're also fine. This is meant for people who watch exclusively over the air ATSC broad casts.

how long does it take to be bailbonds man?

Comcast works just fine I don't know why they told you they can't. Comcast uses cable wiring not a satellite for digital cable so it doesn't matter which way your apt is facing. Direct tv on the other hand does use a satellite so they would not work. A company called time warner cable is also a possibility.
