Unfortunately at this moment in time the directors and writers of the show have confirmed that Mitchell will not be returning to Being Human in Series 4, or any other series for the foreseeable future. As he is a main character in The Hobbit, Aiden himself has quoted that the Hobbit is not a side act, but a full time commitment.
All we can do is hope that our beloved vampire will come back to us, although at this time it's highly unlikely. :'(
