You need a battery. There's a very small chance it could be something else, but from the symptoms you describe it is more than likely a bad battery.
The 'ole Jeep mechanic's tool...disco neg terminal on battery for 2 minutes and, under the presumption that you don't have something persistent, the check engine will be cleared and all you lost is clock and/or radio presets....I do it a few times a winter b/c cold makes it throw codes in early morning...
Normally you don't need a code, especially if it's just had a minor knock, which normally sets this off. Usually you can disconnect battery for a couple of hours, which should be enough time to de-energise the coil, which is stopping the fuel getting to the engine.
A check engine light can come on at 2 thousand miles, there really is no set mileage for a check engine light to come on. The engine and most of its components are obviously mechanical and cannot be gauranteed to work nonstop with out a problem, but most parts do. It could just be from the cold something could be sticking closed/open you just never know when something can go wrong.
Yes! Thermostat stuck open. Replace thermostat. It could, but the thermostat is normally open when the engine is warm so you should only notice this when the engine is cold or warming up.
No, but you do have to have the oil pan off, and sometimes it is easier to get the oil pan off if the trans has been removed.
does a 1999 mitsubishi diamante with a 3.5 engine have a non interfrence engine
Yes , the 3.5 liter V6 engine in a 2003 Diamante is an interference engine (according to Gates - they make timing belts etc. )
all mitsu diamante are 3.5 6 cyl
Engine Control Module.............
Normally they blow due to engine overheating. They can sometimes blow for no apparent reason.
Make and model please 1992 Mitsubishi diamante
Where the bottom radiator hose connects to the engine
Sandwiched between the head and engine block.
Time for a tune up.
Just about everything under the hood. Thus the name.
My owner's manual recommends 5w 30
If it's a 98 diamante, it could very well mean that your o2 sensors are sending a bad reading to your engine. Sometimes it'll send to much fuel & air. Take it to your local parts store and have them hook it to a reader to be sure.
