had the same problem... in the alternator are two charcole sticks they ware down after a while and then they ground out on the inside of the alternator. I took mine apart and changed the 2 sticks. this was a lot of work its easier to buy a used alternator. to see if this is your problem just disconect the power wires to the alternator start the call and then see if the fuse blows
There are about A thousand things that will turn the light on, If your car is still running fine it is likely that there is nothing major wrong, You can take it to be checked out, I suggest Auto-Zone for A good running car.

Have you checked the fuel pump? It sounds to me like it is getting hot after running for so long and starting to shut down.

The first thing to check is that the outside unit is running. That the compressor and the Fan is running. If they are running, then have the Freon pressure in the system checked. You may be low on coolant.
Your heads are probably warped from overheating. have them checked out by a machine shop. Sometimes they can machine them back to flat, but you might have to replace them.
