Do active pickups make a guitar squeal?

No. Active pickups will not make a guitar "squeal". If they make a guitar squeal, then you've done something wrong in the process of installing them, but I have no idea what would cause it to squeal. Unless you are talking about the technique used commonly in guitar-oriented rock, metal music. In which case, it has to do with your technique. If you just hit a note, it's not going to scream. If you hit an artificial harmonic and maybe throw in some action with a Floyd Rose (or other) locking tremolo system, then you'll get somewhere. EMGs (or other active pickups) require you to hear them for yourself and decide what you think. There are many passive pickups that will give you a load of treble response for those solos up above the fifteenth fret and for harmonics. EMG active pickups are NOT HOT at all. They are just extremely clear. Seymour Duncan Blackouts, on the other hand, are very very hot and will give you the absolutely insane distortion commonly found in the music made by Children of Bodom and Godsmack. I hope you weren't looking for a short answer.

What pickups are good for the angus young tone on a budget?

Well angus uses an SG, which has Gibson 490R and 498T pickups. Depending what you want to play, bare knuckle pickups would be good for metal and rock. If you are stuck for cash get a set of alnico pickups off e-bay, they normally go for about 30 euros secondhand.

Can a Les Paul play metal?

Yes. A Gibson Les Paul is a great guitar for metal, particularly if you change the pickups to Seymour Duncan humbuckers. Gibson SG's are also great for metal as well.

Why does the flying vee guitar sound better thaan most other guitars that may have the same pickups?

They have a large body (surface area) so the sound resonates throughout the entire body. Les pauls should sound better... ==================== "Better" is a relative term. If you find a Gibson Flying V's sound to be superior, it could be that you prefer the pickups, which tend to be darker, hotter models on a Flying V. The Gibson Flying V '67 reissues tend to come with 496R and 500T pickups, which are ceramic rather than Alnico, and would have a darker sound better voiced for heavy metal. Flying Vs are also either made of korina or pure mahogany, as opposed to the maple/mahogany combination on most Les Pauls.

What is an active pickup on a guitar and how does it differ from a passive pickup in terms of sound and performance?

An active pickup on a guitar is a type of pickup that requires a power source, usually a battery, to operate. It has a built-in preamp that boosts the signal from the guitar strings, resulting in a stronger output signal. This leads to a cleaner, more powerful sound with less interference and noise compared to passive pickups. Active pickups also tend to have a more consistent tone and better dynamic range, making them popular for genres that require high gain and clarity, such as metal and rock.

What are the advantages of using a single coil for metal in guitar pickups?

The advantages of using a single coil for metal in guitar pickups include a brighter and clearer tone, better articulation of individual notes, and a more defined high-end sound. Additionally, single coil pickups are often preferred for their ability to cut through heavy distortion and provide a sharp attack for metal music.

Will a less active metal will replace a more active metal?

No, a less active metal cannot replace a more active metal in a chemical reaction. In a single displacement reaction, a more active metal will displace a less active metal from its salt solution, but the reverse is not possible.

What is passivation?

Passive means, not active. It has a number of applications - in grammar a verb can be passive, in electronics, components such as resistors, capacitors or inductors are passive (transistors are active).

What are the best humbuckers For example EMG...?

I'm personally an EMG man, but I hear people raving about Seymour Duncan Blackouts. And it depends if you want active pickups vs. passive. Actives have a much higher output, but are pretty pricey. -Yeah, I like Seymour Duncans. I find EMG's are really muddy. I like the clarity you get from a passives. People often say, " Well, I play metal I a going to get EMG's." Dude, I play metal and I have a Seymour Duncan Dimebucker in the bridge and it sounds great. Great clarity, lead tones, rhythm tones, harmonic response, and chugging sound. But, the decision is entirely up to you. Like I say, You may like EMG's better. Try them out at a local guitar shop.
