Are nylon or wood drum sticks better for the longevity of an drum electronic kit?

I once read an article that said nylon tips are better on electronic drums because they
don't get chipped up like wooden tips or possibly drive splinters into the pad.
I personally use nylon sticks, but on my acoustic kit, since the tips of wooden sticks often chip.
