If you take the opinion of over 99% of pianists ... and 99% of major concert halls in the whole world, they will all answer 'yes'. For them, the industry standard is to perform on a good piano .. and they will only perform if it's a Steinway, and no other piano will do ...
There will always the odd-ball 1% that prefer something less desirable, but they, like the person above ... will be out sitting on a branch on their own. Listen to the experts, and listen to their opinion .... and you will end up listening to the best piano.
In Europe ... they build Bosendorfer, Fazioli and Bechstein pianos ... and whilst nice pianos ... none of these pianos have made it, in any great numbers to major concert halls in the world, even when these brands are cheaper ... as they would not be accepted by the experts.
