actually it has a sweeter sound to it. In the related link box below, I posted a site where you can see and read about them.
When a ray of light exits a glass medium into air, it undergoes refraction, bending away from the normal line at the boundary due to the change in optical density. This bending occurs because light travels slower in glass than in air. The angle of refraction can be determined using Snell's Law, which relates the angles of incidence and refraction to the refractive indices of the two media. The ray continues to travel in a straight line once it has exited the glass.
Instruments that are rubbed fall under the category of "friction instruments" or "friction idiophones." These instruments produce sound through the action of rubbing a bow or another object against their surfaces. Examples include the musical saw, the glass harp, and the string instruments played with a bow, such as violins and cellos. The technique of rubbing creates vibrations that generate sound.
The Sumerians invented glass accidentally.

I heard a concert played on a crystal violin last Christmas so this is my impression. It has a clear sound but there is less timbre than a wood instrument. It is very beautiful but the tones are not as warm as the traditional violin. I think of it as a new instrument based on an old one. It was the first instrument that I have heard in concert that the audience collectively gasped when the first note was drawn. It has a startlingly different and beautiful sound. There were CD's of this instrument for sale in Willamsburg, Va where I heard it.
yes violins could be made out of glass a chinese lady has one look it up. :)
The bottom is sweeter.

Approx. 1 000 0C; but note that the expression "normal glass" is confuse.
Shoot it, look at the effects to the glass.
normal float glass screen is made of a number of glass sheets which can be standard.
Gorilla Glass is made stronger than normal glass by adding alumina, a type of ceramic material, during the manufacturing process.
When light travels from air to glass, it bends towards the normal due to the higher refractive index of glass. The ray diagram shows the incident ray coming from air, bending towards the normal at the air-glass interface, and then bending away from the normal as it exits the glass. This results in the light ray being refracted towards the surface normal in glass.
The advantages of Plexiglas compared to that of normal glass are first that Plexiglas cost a fraction of the price, second it is very durable and wont shatter like glass.
A port wine glass looks like a normal wine glass except the inside is a bit bigger than normal. The port wine glass has a thin stand with a wide circular shape.
