Yes you can fix it..If the water pump gasket is leaking then remove the pump and replace the gasket,if the pump itself is leaking from either a crack in the housing or from around the pumps shaft then remove and replace the pump with a new one...
Fixing the pump itself is not something that is easly done by the average person....if the leak is from a crack in the water pumps housing then each end of the crack must be drilled to stop it from progressing any farther,then the entire crack must be welded,soildered,brazed ect depending on what type of metal the pump is made from...
If the pump is leaking from around the shaft then the impeller and shaft must be removed and the bushings,bearings and seals replaced..this requires the use of a bearing press...
