I play the alto sax, and around 18 months ago got braces. At first i found it very hard to play but after a few weeks i was back to the same level as before i got braces. Last week i got my braces off and now have retainers top and bottom, and playing with them is again very difficult but possible! I assume it will take another week or two to become familiar with them enough to play well again, but i assure you - it can be done! I play the alto sax, and around 18 months ago got braces. A typical retainer should not interfere with your ability to play the Clarinet. It is possible that it may vibrate as you play, which can be uncomfortable.
you don't have to but in my experience the retainer messed with the air flow so i got freaky sounds on my trumpet. if it sounds fine don't worry about it.
A trumpist. I know because I play the trumpet...:)
Trumpet.
It depends on what you mean. But in general, the Trumpet, Tuba, Valve Trombone, and French Horn are all similar to the trumpet in the way they operate, but they don't all play the same clef
It is possible to play a high G on the trumpet. You can play almost about any pitch on the trumpet if your lips are tight enough but they let air flow through.
Yes, you can safely eat gum even with a permanent retainer in your mouth. A permanent retainer will naturally broke after a period of time. You will have the choice to ask an orthodontist to glue it back or to live without it. Be warned that some new studies demonstrated that after many years of wearing a permanent retainer, your mandibular bone may be hurted.

Sound it out! Record it, and play it. Play it on the trumpet until you get it right. Keep trying. Remember, the trumpet only has 3 keys!
you get the trumpet then you roll it.
