Can you put a whammy bar on any electric guitar?

Conceivably you can put a whammy onto any electrice guitar, but it in reality it is a lot of trouble of modification to do so. Answer: You can really only put a whammy bar on a guitar that has a Floyd Rose tremolo bridge. Most Ibanez Guitars come with these standard, although some Fender/Squier guitars have a bridge similar to a Floyd Rose, but only whammy bars made by the Fender will fit in the hole. (at least what I've tried) And it is possible to set up a Floyd Rose on any guitar or bass, it just takes a lot of work, and a lot of knowledge because there are some vital parts in a guitar that you might not know what they're there for, so seek some professional help if you are a little uneasy about modifying your instrument.

yes, you have to cut the inside of your guitar up which is irreversable if you where to want to go back. Best advice is to get one called a Kahler as it does everything the other floating whammies do.

or buy one with a Floyd rose in it, its much cheaper than coughing up 400$ (American) plus the price of the tremolo (Whammy bar system).

you can on any guitar but it can be expensive depending on what you choose,

Its best to mount a kahler hybrid whammy on no cutting out the inside of your guitar which costs around 300-400 to get done professionally. And its probably best instead of say a Floyd rose as Floyd rose are cheaper to get in a guitar already.

I would stay away from putting any type of whammy bar on a LP, if you really want a whammy bar, invest in getting a guitar with one inbuilt.

That way, nothing will go wrong.

in experience you can put whammy bars on any guitars, not all of them require wood cutting either like certain Kahlers, Bigsby or a few others you can Google.

in the end its just three or so pieces of wood on average guitars, I'll probably sound nuts but you could put a whammy bar on a coffee table if you really wanted to but as we know the strings wouldn't vibrate properly.

as long as their off the same kind of whammy bar system it should be so fine , I forget the technical term from welding class for how the metal at the edges is cut but you can buy cheap replacement ones at local guitar stores for under 10$.

Yes, you can either hollow out the body and put it in (costly and chancy) or you can install a bigsby (for a cheap top of body tremolo) or a stetsbar (a popular on top of body whammy system highly recommended). If I were going to put one in myself I would go with a statsbar since they're highly recommended and don't involve hollowing out the guitar body.

a real whammy bar yes, from cheap ones I started off with to the most high end guitars in my collection they can be unscrewed and put into a case.
