ABBA was successful because they were the first Swedish group to win the Eurovision Song Contest. Before that, they were only know in Sweden. They are successful today because people enjoy listening to their hits like 'Mamma Mia' and 'Dancing Queen'. Most Baby Boomers like ABBA so this passes down through the generations.
