His band prior to Humble Pie was The Herd, with not only had numerous Top 10 hits between '67-69 ('From the Underworld', 'I Don't Want Our Loving to Die' etc.) but saw Peter labelled 'The Face of '68'. In other words, he was THE pop star of the year, which is why he ultiamtely left the band and formed Humble Pie, just to get away from the teen screamers and make more meaningful music. Another 'face', Steve Marriott of the Small Faces would quit his band to join Frampton's for the same reason.
