Apple Inc. was reputedly named after Apple Corps, as a kind of tribute. The two are separate businesses. Apple Corps did sue Apple Inc. over trademarking, after Apple Inc. created iTunes; Apple Inc. had previously agreed not to sell music, which was the domain of Apple Corps. Apple Corps lost in court, but the two companies patched things up afterwards.

After the original court decision, Apple Computers created a "sound" for its computers called "Sosumi" which, if pronounced slowly, sounds like "So Sue Me". MP

In the grateful dead logo does it spell out grateful dead somehow?

Depends on what 'logo' you speak of.... Some do. But the traditional 'Steal Your Face' logo (skull with lightning bolt) does not Another Answer: The stealie (steal your face) was in reference to a band member's relative stealing millions from the band. They wrote a song about it called "He's gone" There is a reference in the lyrics "Steal your face right off your head" That's where the stealie comes from. There is no specific logo of the Grateful Dead that spells out their name but there are some really cool designs out there on shirts and posters that show their name in a really cool artsy way. ~ the "american beauty" logo With the artists ( Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelley ) not having any intention to have it appear as something else. American Reality. That is the only thing that comes to mind when asking about an ambigram. The classic logo SYF was done by Bob Thomas and Owsley Stanley AKA Bear. That logo actually intended to have a type of ambigram and spell out grateful dead in the circle with lettering as you look at it from a distance. It was never done though. That idea was given to the main artist Bob from Bear when creating the design in 1969. The song he's gone was written by Robert Hunter first tiime played in 1971, but the SYF logo actually has nothing at all to do with Mickey's father Lenny Hart, the bands manager at one time.~ TI

How did the mackintosh apple computer get its name?

Steve Jobs had worked during the summer at an apple farm, and admired the Beatles' record label, Apple. He also believed Apples to be the most perfect fruit. He and Steve Wozniak were trying to figure out a name for their new company, and they decided that if they couldn't think of one by the end of the day that was better than Apple, they would choose Apple. They couldn't think of anything better, so on April 1, 1976, Apple Computer, Inc. was born. But they needed a logo. The first design included Sir Isaac Newton, a tree and a banner that said "Apple Computer." Jobs decided they needed a less busy logo, one that would signify a brand. The second logo attempt was very similar to the current logo, but without the bite taken out of it. Jobs thought this logo looked too much like an orange. The third attempt was the logo that Apple still uses.I got this info from the www.apple-history.nl website, many more apple facts on there tooQuite right he did like the Beatles, but the Beatles had the brand name first, and Jobs had to pay the The Beatles 26.5 million dollars to use the logo

Why is there an apple on apple macs?

coz they felt like choosing it the same way i chose to write this or they did it because: When he and Steve Wozniak tried to come up with a company name, they decided that if they couldn't think of anything better by the end of the day, they'd go with the name "Apple". And they couldn't, so they did. One or the other LOL LOL signed bad eggster AKA Epic Nat AKA LAGGA LAG AKA Nathaniel.

How does copyright affect what you do?

If your new design is too similar to an existing logo, especially if your companies do similar things, your logo could be refused by the copyright office, or you could be sued by the original logo holder. For example, the Apple computer company had an apple as its logo. The Beatles recording company also had an apple as its logo. The two could have been in contention but the companies didn't do the same thing and were on different continents. That didn't save them from court battles however. The Beatles made it clear that if Apple ever got into the recording industry, their logo would be a problem. When Apple added sound to their operating system (besides that old computer "beep"), they called the new sound "Sosumi"... So Sue Me. When iTunes was developed, Apple Computers and Apple Records spent a lot of time negotiating what would happen; that's why it took so long for iTunes to be able to offer the Beatles catalog.

What is the derivation of the apple in apple mac?

According to Steve Jobs, who was a vegetarian (eating mostly fruit) at the time, they were running out of time to come up with a name for the company and so he said he would call the company Apple if nobody came up with a better suggestion. Nobody did. Apple it is Yes somebody did, it was The Beatles. It was called Apple Corps Ltd in 1968,and a lawsuit followed which mr Jobs had to pay 26.5 Million Dollars in 1991. There were also further disputes between Mr Jobs and The Beatles. In 1981 Apple Corps Ltd (The Beatles) made an agreement with Apple Computer that they could use the Apple Logo, but they could not use the Logo that had anything to do with music. They settled out of court. In 2003 Apple Computer invented a little thing called iTunes, sticking the Apple Log`s all over it. Again back to court. The judge without hearing the case gave them leave to appeal in the high court in London,The reason the judge did this, that this was a far to complicated issue for a little judge like me(These were the words of the Barrister for The Beatles) In the high court they ruled in favour of Apple Computer, because he said it had nothing to do with music. They were going back to court to appeal against this, which Apple Computer new. They settled out of court, and the Beatles Barrister said do you know how much we got, "Well i am not telling you" Apple does not copy?
