if this is a differant problem than why you changed the starter in the first place then recheck to make sure all wires are connected if symptoms are the same then:- if the starter is OK (dont assume because its new) and the battery is OK (should read about 12.6 volts)then you must assume that you are suffering from a loss of power down the starter cable or the earth return system. if you know how, then check voltage drop on this cables whilst cranking if not then check all connections to terminal including all the earth conections, do not forget the one from the engine to the chassis. under normal power uses they probably would not cause a problem but because the starter draws alot of current a 0.2 voltage drop across any cable or connection will cause the starter to click (has enough power to throw the pinion in (click) but not enough power to turn the engine. if the battery is reading 12 volts then it is low on charge and will cause similar fault, it should read 12.6volts hope this helps robb
I had the same issue with my 95 Country, that had 286,000 miles at the time, two months ago. A friendly neighbor checked an ignition coil prior to the tow truck taking it to the shop ... but that $15 part did not do the trick. My mechanic, determined the problem to be a bad crank sensor. The part ran $122 and maybe 1-1 1/2 hours of labor. No further issues since. Good luck!
Some may, some won't. Please ask a new question and include the year, make, model, engine size, and what part.
Please, rephrase the question. You say you have a 1989 Jeep Grand Cherokee, but the Grand Cherokee did not come out till late 92, but was considered a 93 model. If what you really have is a 1989 Cherokee, we need to know the motor size. The rest we can look up and give you the best answer possible.

Make sure that the starter and the baterry are connected correctly. If it still does not work, you should go to a prefecianal meachanec to check it out! You should also check that when you replaced the starter that you did not damage or effect the ignition! for more in fo please e-mail me at punk_pro1@hotmail.com Have you checked the solenoid?
Please provide more information, what do you mean?
Any number of different reasons. Most likely the starter in the Miata needs to be replaced. Search on here for how to do it; I posted the instructions already, and it's very easy for one person to do. Please Re read question, if its cranking I assume the starter is functioning......
Sounds like a dirty connection at battery or starter. Or a bad battery. Jump the truck and take it to an auto parts store to have battery tested (free in most cases) The rapid clicking you hear is the starter solinoid. It is normal in your case. Please advise if I can help further. Justin Justin25taylor@yahoo.com On my 1997 Ranger there is also a spade connection on the starter that will periodically come loose just needs to be slide back snug or replaced.
We have not had any problems. Please contact us directly to have it replaced.
i have toyota tercel i ned change the starter help please

Try replacing the spark plugs /wires and distrubuter cap if it doessnt work still you may have a bad ignition coil or fuel problems
Hi, I can relate to you what I had to do. I took the tire iron and banged on the soelnoid while my wife turned the key. I worked for me all the time. I learned it from a to truck driver that came on a AAA call and he showed me what to do until I replaced, I had it replaced because it was a real pain job to replace the starter. I found a good starter at a local junkyard. I hope this is timely for you and good luck Steve H.
Please let me know how to remove the 1979 z28 starter.
