I had the same issue with my 95 Country, that had 286,000 miles at the time, two months ago. A friendly neighbor checked an ignition coil prior to the tow truck taking it to the shop ... but that $15 part did not do the trick. My mechanic, determined the problem to be a bad crank sensor. The part ran $122 and maybe 1-1 1/2 hours of labor. No further issues since. Good luck!
Dead battery?
Engine seized?
Loose or corroded battery cable?
Bad starter?
Bad starter solenoid?
Bad neutral switch? Please elaborate if it is an automatic or standard shift. Does it make a clicking noise or no sound? Check park, or neutral, if no noise. Check clutch switch.
Check fuses, also large ones under hood.
Does it turn over? Does it have fuel, spark and compression?
It means that the over drive is turned off.
The Transmission is getting overheated, there may be an internal failure.
ok i have a 1986 jeep cherokee it wont start from the key in side it turns over but dosent fire up an its got (gas an fire) it will start if you pull start it an it has a carb
I wish I had the answer - this just started happening to me today.
right side of eng over the starter get it from the top
Maybe your starter.
Yes it will, unless the Grand Cherokee has the V-8, otherwise it is a direct fit and bolt up. The basic block is the same, the accessories are different, you will have to switch everything over
the engine will turn over a few times before starting, if it starts, and it will feel sluggish
This might help you a little bit,I have a 96 Cherokee that dose that, took it to shop still having problem your flywheel may be the problem you starter maybe in a dead spot on your flywheel(Missing a tooth)
You will have no problem with that switch over.
It may not be the problem but the same thing happened to my 95 Sport. The ignition switch at the steering wheel column is going out. We were able to turn engine over and bearly feather the key back but not off and engine would run. Hope this help.
Castroil 10w 40..They also make a high millage oil, is great if you have over 1000,000 miles.
Jeep had several different "sport" models over the years, need to be more specific
To turn the engine over.
If the check engine light has illuminated have the vehicle scanned for codes. The codes may lead you to the culprit.
There is absolutely no advantage of any Cherokee Jeep over any Toyota Highlander. I've had both. The Jeep spent more time in the shop than on the road.
