Their first tour was backing a singer named Johnny Gentle. They were Tony Sheridan's backing band for awhile in Germany, and teamed with Gerry and the Pacemakers, to form "The Beatmakers" for one show back in England. They also toured with American performers Little Richard and Roy Orbison. Late in their career, they recorded some songs with Billy Preston guesting on keyboards.

John Lennon and Paul McCartney were guest vocalists on the Stones's "We Love You", and Brian Jones played saxophone on "You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)" for the Beatles.

Despite the alleged rivalry between the two groups played up in the media, their members were actually good friends. Paul McCartney and Mick Jagger regularly met to discuss upcoming record releases, which they timed carefully so the groups never released songs the same week, so there would be less competition between them.

The Beatles included a doll wearing a sweater reading WELCOME The Rolling Stones on the cover of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, and the Stones answered this months later, on the cover of Their Satanic Majesties Request; images of the Beatles' faces can be spotted peering out from places around the cover photo.

George Harrison was visiting Keith Richards when he and Jagger were arrested for drugs in 1967; Harrison was asked to leave just before the police moved in, so he would not be involved. John Lennon was a guest performer in the Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus during 1968, and later spent time visiting with Mick Jagger in the mid-1970s, during his separation from Yoko Ono.

George Harrison's photo was included among those of several celebrities on the Stones's Some Girls album cover. Many of the celebrities were outraged by the use of their images, and sued to have them removed. By contrast, Harrison found it amusing, and he threatened to sue if the Stones removed his picture from the cover.

Tony Sheridan recorded in Germany with The Beatles as his backing band, during 1961. (Producer Bert Kaempfert renamed them the "Beat Brothers" on some of the recordings, and continued to use this name for Sheridan's later backing bands.) They also recorded a demo with a singer named Wally from a rival group, with Ringo Starr guesting on drums; it was the first time the "classic" Beatles lineup recorded together.

Nightclub bouncer Horst Fascher sometimes sang with them onstage, as did his brother Fred; it was a way of paying Fascher back, for his personal protection and friendship to them in Germany. (Live at the Star-Club features two songs, featuring the Fascher brothers on vocals.)

Liverpool singer Cilla Black also reportedly sang with the Beatles at the Cavern, in her earliest days.

The Beatles had occasional guest performers; some were famous in their own right, and some were not. The famous ones included Donovan ("Yellow Submarine"), Eric Clapton ("While My Guitar Gently Weeps"), Nicky Hopkins ("Revolution"), Billy Preston ("Get Back"), Dave Mason and others.

They all did. John Lennon performed with Eric Clapton on record and onstage; also later with Elephant's Memory, Elton John, David Bowie, Hugh McCracken and others. George Harrison's first album away from the Beatles, Wonderwall Music, featured the Remo Four, Eric Clapton, Peter Tork and Ashish Khan. Ringo Starr guested with the Who onstage after Keith Moon's death. Paul McCartney teamed up with former Moody Blues member Denny Laine in Wings, and with many other artists later on.
