Nick already had a record deal and was going solo at the time when Kevin and Joe decided to help him write a song ("Please Be Mine"). The record deal "people" (if you will) suggested that the brothers join a band together, and they LOVED the idea.

They wrote the song, "Please Be Mine" that is how they became The Jonas Brothers
